Tryout registration is a 2-step process and participants will not be admitted without having completed both steps:

Step 1: Online Ignite Registration (click on your age group below). Please bring proof of registration to the tryout.

Step 2: WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1st - OVA MRS registration opens on September 1st. You MUST wait to complete this step. The OVA resets their system each year, therefore if you try to register before this date it will be lost and you’ll need to do it again.

  • If you already have an account, use the same login information as last year.

  • If you do not have an account, Register your  athlete using the athlete’s name (NOT the parent’s name), as a ‘Tryout Player’ for the ‘2026-27 season’ – there is NO cost to register as a tryout player.

  • Note: If you are registering 2 players, you will need to use another email address.

  • Here is the link to the MRS System: https://mrs.ontariovolleyball.org/Account/Login

  • We are Region 2

What you need to know...

Playing up or down an age group?

  • Athletes must register in their correct age group based on birth year (see above age categories overview). If evaluators believe it’s appropriate for an athlete to play up or down (e.g., late-year birth), they will consult with evaluators from the other group. If both groups agree, the Coaching/Technical Director will speak with the athlete and their family to explain the reasoning and options. Only the evaluators of the athlete’s assigned age group or the Technical Director may initiate this process.

What to Wear?

  • Athletes are asked to wear a plain coloured shirt. They will be given a numbered bib to be worn at ALL tryouts - no exceptions!

  • Running Shoes

  • Knee pads are optional

Arrival

  • All age groups are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their on-court start time. This allows time for player check in and our parent/athlete meeting. On the 2nd day of tryouts that 30 minutes prior to on court time will be used for sizing club apparel.

Club Apparel

  • The ordering process for jerseys and apparel happens in a very tight turn around time from when teams are selected to their first tournament. Therefore, ALL athletes trying out will be asked to do a fitting for the player package.

PLEASE NOTE: Only athletes selected to a competitive team will be expected to order the Player Package.

On-Court Tryouts

  • We will have expert coaches on-site; including our Technical Director, Head Coaches, Assistant and Development Coaches, and trained Evaluators. Athletes will be evaluated based on their volleyball skills as well as their attitude, effort and teamwork.

On-Court Tryout Sessions

  • All athletes are expected to attend all of the tryouts for their age group.

After Tryouts

  • All athletes will receive communication about the outcome of the Tryout Phase. This can include: an invitation back to another tryout, a competitive team offer or a recommendation email for development program (Development Team/House league if available)

  • The club will hold the athlete’s competitive team position for 48 hours before offering the position to another player.

Responses (from athlete families)

  • Guardians/athletes have a response window of 48 hours in which to accept (or reject) before the club can offer that position to another player.
